Current Issue
This issue presents proposed strategies and measures, which constitute research results on agricultural activity in the Guantanamo region, aimed at meeting social demands and conserving the environment. Studies were conducted to reduce the occurrence and spread of fires in mountainous areas. Strategies were designed to address the environmental impact of food quality and safety management. A sustainable silvopastoral system was designed in a deforested mountain ecosystem, with the goal of reducing soil degradation and increasing animal feed production. Studies related to ecosystems damaged by natural and anthropogenic hazards were also presented, with proposals that facilitate the articulation between scientific knowledge, education and community participation, which allowed identifying problems and prioritizing restoration actions and strengthening social appropriation. A study is included on the integration of the gender perspective in environmental management in a context of high climate vulnerability, in damaged basins, belonging to the 'Green Basins' Project, related to the Ecosystem-Based Adaptation programs.
