An inventory of fruit genetic resources was carried out in two different places in El Salvador municipality, Guantánamo province, as well as their state of preservation and use. To achieve this goal a very deep review on previous studies about fruit species was made. The information collected was ordered by taxonomic botanical family, genre, species and collection. Throughout such studies it was revealed the existence of 18 species belonging to 13 families distributed by locations. Genetic resources for this group of plants, the preservation ex situ and in situ plays a very important role; 18 species are preserved in this way; 8 out of which can be found in family backyards, gardens and farms through live collections. In situ conservation is done in five species through backyard gardens.
