Abstract

In order to evaluate the behavior of the fruit fly populations through the use of traps, the following investigation was developed in the towns of Boquerón and Caimanera, belonging to the Caimanera municipality, Guantánamo province. For the samplings, two sites were selected per quadrant where Mcphail, Rebell and Jackson traps were located for monitoring, the species evaluated were: Anastrepha obliqua, Anastrepha suspensa y Toxotrypana curvicauda. The variables evaluated were: # of flies per trap, per site and infestation index by calculating the number of flies captured by traps per day. The results showed that the species A. obliqua and A. suspensa turned out to be those with the highest average populations and the Mchphail trap was the one with the highest capture. Regarding the number of flies per day during the year, the trend was towards the rise, with a higher number in October for both species.
