Abstract

The work was developed with the objective of determining species of host weeds of Meloidigyne mayaguensis in coffee areas of the CCS “Luis A. Carbó”. After selecting the areas, there were determined the existing weed species where it was considered a host if there existed an infection of their roots. The results reported a total of 15 weed hosting species of the Meloidigyne mayaguensis, which belong to 10 botanical families; the most representative species were the Asteraceae and the Solanaceae with three species each one followed by the Malvaceae; the rest are represented only by one species; the Solanaceae family represented 20% of roots with the presence of nodules, being this the best hosts which may be related to the fact that they stimulate the development of the nematode when finding better living conditions for its reproduction.
