Abstract

This work shows some results of the investigative task Epistemological Foundation for Environmental Education which completed the Institutional Project for the Interprofessional Education Development in the Healthcare System, carried out by the University of Medical Sciences of Guantánamo since 2019. The study was centered in the environmental education theoretical referents as a pedagogical “weapon” in the fight against the ecological crisis. The scientific problem was determined in how to contribute to the development of the healthcare professionals and general population environmental education. Primary information was obtained on the topic as well as information related to its referents and theoretical foundations were systematized. Their procedures were centered in designing a pedagogic program that favors, from the environmental education perspective, the mitigation of the consequences of the current ecological crisis in urban and rural communities of Guantánamo.
