Abstract

With the objective of obtaining a diagnosis for chicken breeding with local resources, the main problems, causes and potentialities presented by the El Manguito community were determined and hierarchized according to the needs of the community. For this purpose, different tools were used for Participatory Rural Diagnosis with leaders and actors living in the community, as well as experts from institutions related to the issue in the municipality. The results allow recognizing that the community has different limitations for raising chicken, however, with its potential can achieve greater upbringing from local development. There is general community recognition that the main priority is to improve the self-sufficiency of chicken breeding and the solution of problems related to breeding stock, endogenous financial and material resources to achieve this goal.
