Abstract

The work was developed in the municipalities of Niceto Pérez (17), Imías (43), Manuel Tames (25), El Salvador (7) and Yateras (8), Guantánamo province. For this purpose, surveys were applied, the animals were registered with clinical symptoms and the records of the Veterinary Medicine Departments were consulted, in order to determine the diseases with the highest incidence in these areas.  For the copro--parasitological diagnosis of the animals, stool samples were taken. They were stored in nylon bags and sent to the parasitology laboratory of the Mountain Development Center (CDM) for the confirmatory diagnosis.  The results showed the presence of Oestrus Ovis and gastrointestinal parasitism in the five municipalities, and the parasitic species with the highest incidence were Strongyloides and Strongylata. Moniezia was only detected in Manuel Tames. Practical recommendations were provided for establish parasite control in sheep.
