The research refers to an experience in carrying out forestry extension practices. The study was carried out in the communities of Los Cerezos and Cajobabo in the municipality of Imías, within the framework of the project Implementation of actions for ecological restoration in degraded sites in the semi-arid zone of Guantánamo, sponsored by the Soils Unit in the province. These communities have large natural resources of economic, social and environmental value for the territory. Its relief is entirely mountainous. Research-Action-Participation was used, which was articulated with the methodology of popular environmental education. The practices carried out by the social actors of the forest extension communities contributed to the protection of biodiversity, forest ecosystems and the quality of life of the social actors.
