Horticulture and its relationship with the sociocultural expressions which link people all over the World
Keywords:
vegetables, weeds, pumpkin, soupAbstract
The relationship of horticulture with some cultures’ sociocultural aspects was analyzed. A social research was carried out with the ethnography technique, in which it was possible to show, first of all, that horticulture is a science that affects many people daily lives. Then, the food use and the conservation of creole horticultural species were glimpsed, in relation to the spirit of ancestral and ethnobotanical experience, where the interest of a modern agronomy to produce vegetables in large quantity, sacrifices the quality and flavor of genotypes and culinary preparations inherited from ancient times. In the third part, it was shown how vegetables have been part of cultural expressions through the use of plant species that in other contexts are considered as weeds.
