Abstract

The objective was aimed to determine the nutritional characteristics of sugarcane residues (Saccharum officinarum L.) from La Troncal canton. Samples necessary for the study were taken. The chemical composition of fibbers was determined; Gross energy and in situ degradability in 450 Kg ± 20 Kg Brahman crossbred cattle, fistulated at the rumen level, the incubation of the samples was carried out using the nylon bag technique, handled during the times: 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. Turning to be an alternative in animal feed, the structural and chemical characteristics of the sugarcane residues analysed can be used in the ruminant diet because they showed an acceptable nutritional value, with admissible values of degradability of the dry matter in if you. Meanwhile, the fibber content and percentage of lignin fraction contained could limit its degradability, consumption and nutritional contribution.
