Abstract

In vitro culture of plant cells and tissues plays an important role in agricultural biotechnology. Due to the importance of the coffee tree crop in Cuba, this work took place at the INAF Agroforestry Station, in the III Frente Oriental, municipality located at Santiago de Cuba province. With the objective of evaluating the effect of different concentrations of auxins and cytokinins on the somatic embryogenesis of the Velazco-5 coffee hybrid, two biotechnological tests were carried out at the laboratory level to test different concentrations in the formation of callus and somatic embryogenesis in coffee. It was found that it is possible to obtain calllogenesis and somatic embryogenesis in the Velazco-5 coffee crop with the growth regulators evaluated, obtaining up to 94.13% induction of embryogenic callus.
