Entomofauna associated to Pinus cubensis G. in areas of the Cupeyal del Norte Conservation Department

Abstract

The work was carried out in areas of the Cupeyal del Norte Conservation Department, Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, Guantánamo province, in the period from September 2018 to February 2020, with the objective of inventorying the entomofauna associated with Pinus cubensis. The inventory was carried out through a simple random sampling in plots of 20 x 25 (500 m²). Ecological indices were determined. A total of six orders, 24 families, nine genera and 38 species were identified, the Coleoptera order is the best represented with a total of 12 families, the most represented were Cerambycidae, Curculionidae and Scolytidae. The diversity indices show good equitability and abundance, being posible to find the species Ips grandicollis and Ips calligraphus, while the species with the highest relative frequency were Nasutitermes rippertti and Crytotermes brevis. The species Ips calligraphus is reported for the first time for the study area.
