Abstract

The work was carried out in the “Omar Ranedo” sawmill belonging to the Guantánamo Agroforestry Company, in the period from September, 2019 to May, 2020, with the aim of updating the commercial volume tables based on mathematical models for Pinus cubensis (Jacq.) Merr. Diameter measurements were made to 82 logs every 0,50 cm, where the raw material was characterized and the volume of the bolus wood was determined. Then several mathematical models were tested and the one with the best fit was selected. The evaluated logs were characterized by having a diameter between 5 cm and 45 cm and a length that varied from 3,05 m to 7,50 m. The Schumacher and Hall double-entry arithmetic model: V=0,0000563·d2.244·L0,531, obtained the best fit, with a determination coefficient of 0,96, a mean square error of 0,0003 and an aggregate difference of 0,0322.
