Abstract

This work is a part of the project "Support to the productive chain of cocoa in Guantánamo Rural East" and had the purpose of offering an integrating vision of the gender perspective in the chain's diagnosis, based on a case study that allowed the inductive reasoning from observation and data collection. In this sense, the valuable participation of actors and representatives of the different links that contributed with information and knowledge is recognized. The results of the diagnosis showed that in order to talk about economic development and innovation, women must be recognized as a social force that defines their performance due to their marked sensitivity, creativity, commitment and intelligence applied to practice, which must be assessed to promote empowerment actions with active participation in decision-making at different levels.
