Abstract

It is a question of evaluating the role of information management in terms of local sustainable development. The methods used for the realization of this work and to be able to form a theory on the subject treated, are fundamentally theoretical. The bibliographic revision was used to be able to pass to general propositions. Minimizing the digital divide and boosting development is not only the responsibility of the least privileged countries, it is the responsibility of the entire human society to move towards a more just world, also favoring that information and communication technologies contribute to the configuration of a world more balanced and at the height of its noble destiny. The overcoming of this phenomenon, is something decisive for the social development and, specifically, the local development. And it requires public policies to strengthen national and local capacity for information and knowledge management to support this aspect.
