Was evaluated the effect of different variants of fertilization and use of sugarcane trash on the organic matter in a Vertisol planted with sugarcane. Was organized an experiment with a design of divided plot with three treatments: harvest conserving the sugarcane trash, eliminating the sugarcane trash and with burning; and with 4 sub-treatments: 80 t ha-1 of scum, 50 t ha-1 of scum + 100 kg ha-1 of nitrogen, 100 kg ha-1 of nitrogen and without fertilizing. To the samples of soils taken to a depth of 0-0.2 m was determined the percentage of organic matter. They were evaluated the agricultural and sugar yields. The sugarcane trash has bigger influence on the organic matter than fertilization. The organic matter in the soil, is notably smaller when the burning is practiced. When conserving the residues of harvest are obtain the best agricultural and sugar yields.Downloads
