Abstract

The research was conducted with the participation of students in 4th medical year as educators in a community where patients reside with coloproctological affections, determining the environmental problems that affect them, being chosen for their impact those concerning pollution of the Guaso River and proliferation of vectors. Among the causes weak environmental awareness, lack of investment in treatment systems, poor hygiene and inadequate access to safe drinking water were considered. Among the proposed solutions are highlighted: develop environmental awareness, make investments to develop efficient systems for treatment, effective and systematic work of community and aqueducts and increase educational talks by health. It was concluded that the deterioration of sanitation affects the quality of life of the population and patients to be favorable for the spread of disease, indicating the existence of poor perception of risk and need for sanitation.
