Abstract

The objective was to evaluate the productive behavior of fattening rabbits fed with raw material based diets (Pennisetum purpureum y Paspalum fasciculatum) given in a fresh form and cut manually, as replacement of the commercial balanced diet. The experiment was made in rabbit rearing family, Casco Central sector, San José parish, Tucupita municipality, Delta Amacuro State, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. There were used 24 male rabbits of Creole breed, which were recently weaned, with 28 days old and 360 g per animal of average live weight, using a design totally randomized, including three treatments. At the end of the experiment there were obtained the best rates of final live weight, weight profit, average daily profit, consumption and conversion in the control treatment, however the alternative diets reach similar values to the ones obtained with foraging of high quality and to the ones recommended for technical instructive for this category.
