Abstract

It was accomplished a discriminating analysis, with the software ESTATISTICA 8, to each type of soil in both genetic classifications. The percentage of good classification was of 73.68, 94.44 and 86.49% for the three groups of profiles formed by the Brown with Carbonates, Brown without Carbonates and Brown. The biggest problems when using the categorization methodology according to the erosion grade were given in the smoothly eroded groups, fairly eroded groups and strongly eroded groups. The properties that showed with more sensibility to suffer long term changes were the organic matter and the power of the horizon A. The established methodology to determine the erosion grade of the Brown with Carbonates of the 2nd Genetic Classification of the Soils of Cuba can be used for the Brown type of the New Version.
