Abstract

The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pathology of the National Agricultural Research Institute of Miranda state, and cocoa communities of Acevedo and Andrés Bello municipalities, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of different control strains of Trichoderma sp. on Phytophthora palmivora from different mixtures of compost. Levels were determined in the presence of the pathogen, was assessed the capacity of the compost to the isolation of different strains of T. sp. and determined the effectiveness of control on P. palmivora. Differences were found in the presence of disease among study sites. It was determined that in mixtures with a higher percentage of compost cocoa shell number of Trichoderma sp. was high. Also obtained the strain 9, strain 10 and T. longibrachiatum (Strain 17) had the highest levels of effectiveness on the pathogen.
