Abstract

The investigation was carried out in the province of Guantánamo, to personnel related to the consumption of wooden articles, contacted sawmills, carpentry, which represented a universe of 500 individuals, with the objective of determining the preferred species in the manufacture of furniture, which was applied the survey method of the questionnaire technique. Swietenia mahagoni L, Cedrela odorata L, Hibiscus elatus L and Cordia gerascanthus L were the timber species that had a strong influence and preferences for the consumer, where Swietenia mahagoni is the species with the greatest acceptance for the production of articles of wood.
