Abstract

The work was carried out on the riverbank of the Toa River, from January to March 2020, with the aim of characterizing the ecological processes that intervene in the area. Fourteen plots of 500 m2 were raised in 60 ha, with a systematic sampling. The characterization was determined by alpha and beta diversity, demonstrating that the vegetation is characterized by heterogeneity, dominated by invasive species. 66 families, 28 genera, 26 species and 467 individuals were identified. The most represented family was Moraceae with five species and 121 individuals. Cecropiapeltata L, Terminaliacatappa L, Cedrela odorata L and Calophyllumantillanum Britt were the taxa that dominate the ecosystem, with Jambosa vulgaris DC decreasing in representation. Cecropiapeltata L, Terminaliacatappa and Calophyllumantillanum were the ones with the highest Value Index of Ecological importance.
