Abstract

A descriptive study was carried out to check the relationship between intestinal parasitism due to Giardia Lamblia caused by environmental factors and inadequate hygienic conditions with allergic manifestations present in patients with it, and some laboratory parameters were evaluated in 60 pediatric patients aged 3-15 years from the Allergy Service of the Pediatric Teaching Hospital "Pedro Agustin Perez" in Guantanamo, in the period from December 2019-February 2020, all of them were allergic and only a half had a diagnosis of parasitism due to Giardia Lamblia.  Variables such as: age, environmental and sanitary conditions, adequate water treatment, laboratory studies and allergic manifestations were studied, prevailing parasitism by Giardia Lamblia in poor sanitary conditions and inadequate water treatment, as well as the prevalence of parasitism in the age group from 3-5 years.  The most observed allergic manifestation was urticarino syndrome and edema.
