Photovoltaic solar energy at the COPEXTEL Corporation, S.A. Limitations and challenges

Cuba is updating its economic and social system, a process which demands the development of renewable energies in the business sector. This work is aimed to assess the advances, limitations and challenges in the regulatory framework for the sustainable development of this type of energy. In the investigation, theoretical, empirical and technical methods were used. The authors expose the insertion of photovoltaic solar energy in the Guantánamo Territorial Division of the COPEXTEL, S.A. in order to contribute to the adaptation and mitigation of climate change, as well as a change in the energy matrix, greater efficiency and profitability in the provision of technical services, based on the profits generated annually by the reduction of electricity expenditure.
