Abstract

Functional zoning in Protected Areas of Managed Resources in Cuba, does not take into account the analysis of geographical landscapes during the planning process. The solution to this problem in "Cuchillas del Toa", is addressed through the realization of the geoecological analysis of landscapes, with the use of the theoretical-methodological conception of landscape geoecology and the tools of the geographic information system ArcGis.9.3. The sixteen first-order units (locations) were mapped, differentiated and analyzed. The very humid small windward and humid leeward mountains turned out to be the most fractional, complex and coherent. The predominance of the functional structure for genetics is appreciated, as a sub-organizational basin system and extensive development of transit landscapes. The heights and mountains of windward and leeward, have greater stable natural and technogenic stability, evaluated between sensitive and very sensitive.
