Manifestations of the climate and his influence in malanga's production in Maisí. Cuba.

Abstract

The instability of rainfall affects agricultural production, mainly when under rainfed conditions. The cultivation of malanga in Maisí is significantly affected by these irregularities. The research was carried out with the objective of evaluating the influence of rains on malanga production in CCS José A. Sánchez de Sabana. For this purpose, the data of the gauge GT-1349 Lindero (series 1965 - 2014) located in the place were chosen, by means of which it was determined that the precipitations in the last 10 years were superior to the historical ones analyzed, but, they were influenced by events extremes that caused accumulated highs in short periods. There is a cycle of crop and crop harvest that does not take advantage of the climatic characteristics in order to achieve the best results, so it is recommended to make variations of these periods to adjust the needs of the crop to the climatic conditions.
