Proposal for the design of a Geoportal for the urban agriculture system of the Guantanamo municipality.

Abstract

With the aim of improving the urban agriculture system of the Guantanamo municipality through a proposal for the design of a digital geoportal on the principles of precision agriculture, a socioeconomic survey was conducted on the urban agriculture systems of the Guantanamo municipality, which were georeferenced using a "Garmin Oregon® 550T" (GPS) receiver. Thematic maps of variables of agricultural interest were prepared, all the statistical processing was done with the packages InfoStat / Professional and Statical Package. A detailed characterization from the socioeconomic point of view of the main sites that make up the urban agriculture system was obtained, the physical-chemical characteristics of the soil and their limitations are detailed and finally the requirements of how the digital geoportal should be designed were proposed, taking into account the information obtained that allow an adequate consultation of information for efficient decision making.
