Abstract

1344 laying birds of the White Leghorn breed were used in production conditions, according to completely randomized design with four treatments and four replications to test the effect of the probiotic Vitafer in increasing doses mixed in the feed. Body weight at 25 weeks showed no significant differences, however the total egg production per 84 birds was significantly increased in the three treatments included Vitafer. For uniformity and tarsus length, the best result was obtained with the addition of 15 ml of Vitafer in feed / bird / day, with no significant differences with 5 and 10 ml of Vitafer, while the sensory characteristics of the egg did not produce permissible changes to the taste, color and odor among the four treatments evaluated. With the use of Vitafer was able to improve the productive indicators of the birds while the organoleptic characteristics of the egg are not affected.
