Actions for the sustainable use of non-timber forest products in the Tacre Ecological Reserve

Abstract

The research was carried out in the Tacre Ecological Reserve from January 2023 to January 2025, with the aim of developing actions for the sustainable use of non-timber forest products. The forest species that provide non-timber forest products are located in 46 genera, 29 families and 47 species with the highest use value concur in two categories (medicinal and utensils, tools and construction materials), among which the following stand out. Perceptions of the inhabitants about the uses of the species correspond 55.32 to trees, 36.17 to shrubs and 8.51 to lianas; parts of the plant used by the inhabitants the largest percentage corresponds to the bark and a lesser percentage to latex; Regarding the method of preparation, 62.5% used prepared products, and 1.3% used only fabric. Twenty actions were defined for the sustainable use of non-timber forest products.
