A look at the potential of the Baracoa municipality for the production of eggs with endogenous foods
Keywords:
Food supply; Eggs; Cooperative integrated management; Diversified mountain agricultureAbstract
Annually, Baracoa demands approximately 4, 380,000 eggs, just to cover the per capita population distributed in the retail network, if we also consider the demand for schools, hospitals, day care centers and other business and social actors, the demand annually amounts to 6 million eggs, a figure that is currently not covered due to the dissimilar economic and political causes that slow down the development of our country. However, the territory currently produces enough raw materials to feed birds, which together with the constitution of cooperative integrated management for the production, first of alternative animal feed that, supplied in a balanced way to the laying hens, would allow the endogenous production of eggs in a municipal scenario characterized by diversified mountain agriculture where planning, cooperation, training, awareness and integrated initiatives would serve as a demonstration scenario, from the local to the regional.
