Floristic characterization of a mountain degraded rainforest in Los Cedrones, Baracoa municipality

Abstract

The present work was developed in a degraded mountain rainforest in Los Cedrones, Baracoa municipality, from February, 2022 to October, 2023, with the objective of characterizing the floristic diversity. Data were taken in an area with a surface of 198, where 15 parcels of 20 x 25 m (500 m2) were raised, distributed in a random way, the diversity beta was determined (β), starting from a hierarchical conglomerate and the diversity alpha (α), where elements of the horizontal and vertical structure were evaluated. They were identified a total of 15 families, 24 species, 1 720 individuals and the arboreal stratum presents bigger quantity of individuals, followed by the bushy and the herbaceous one. The families with bigger quantity of individuals are: Meliaceae, Moraceae and Combretaceae, with the species: Terminalia catappa, Zuelania guidonia and Cedrela odorata that are that of more IVIE.
