With the objective of evaluating the relationship between the populations of phytophagous insects and infection rate of the malanga virus (DsMV) the research was carried out in two Credit and Services Cooperatives: Jose Marti and Pastor Martinez. Two studies were carried out: inventory of species of phytophagous insects presents and determination of the incidence rate of DsMV in the specie X. sagittifolium (L) Schott. The inventory of phytophagous species showed the presence of six specimens for the CCS Jose Marti and eight for Pastor Martinez, with the prevalence of the specie A. gossypii Glover. With the determination of the incidence rate of DsMV, it was verified that the highest infections were detected in the productives areas of 25% of the producers for both CCS. In terms of the highest percentages of infection were reached in the Jose Marti CCS, being in correspondence with the average number of phytophagous species found.
