Abstract

The aim is to determine the spatial behavior of electrical storms in the Guantánamo province, between 1996-2022 (27 years), based on the phenomenon model of the five INSMET meteorological stations in the province, which were analyzed and processed with the use of of the SPSS 23 Software and the Microsoft Excel 2007 tool. The monthly behavior is shown, by periods and average storms for each of the meteorological stations and for the province in general. The results showed homogeneous series, evidencing a maximum occurrence in the month of September and a minimum in January (both in the province and in the seasons). Monthly values above the provincial average were obtained in all stations. This investigation allows to enter and know the particularities of the behavior of electrical storms in the province, increase the effectiveness of its forecast, as well as the mitigation of its impacts.
