Abstract

The soil is an important reservoir of seeds that can remain for a long time after being deposited. This set of viable mature seeds in the soil is called Weed Seed Bank and they are closely related to aerial vegetation in agroecosystems. The study was carried out in the 2019-2020 period, in five sugarcane production units, of the Argeo Martinez Base Business Unit in Guantánamo. The work included two studies: the floristic inventory of the aerial vegetation and the soil weed seed bank was estimated through the emergence of seedlings. The results obtained showed that there is a relationship between the studies, being Cynodon dactylon, Rottboellia cochinchinensis and Ipomea trifida, the common weed species, which shows that they are the most important.
