Abstract

With the objective of evaluating the effect of different pre-germination treatments on Creole carob seeds for their incorporation in the ecological restoration of the El Salvador municipality, the investigation was carried out on randomized design with four treatments. Pre- germination treatments were applying in the nursery. The numbers of days to start germination, germination percentage and plant height were evaluated. From the data, an analysis of variance was performed, the means were separated through the Tukey test and the results were economically evaluated. It was observed that in the treatment where the seeds were sanded, germination began after five days with a percentage of 100%, in addition, that better quality positions were reached when reporting a height of 18,5 cm. Economically, this treatment reported the highest utility with $ 16,600.25 and a benefic/cost ratio of $ 4.88.
