Abstract

This work was developed in the Los Yacer farm, Baracoa municipality, Guantánamo province, with the objective of evaluating the estimation of carbon sequestration in the Agroforestry System of Theobroma cacao L. The same It was carried out through a floristic inventory, through random sampling, where 14 rectangular plots were raised, evaluating the species by herbaceous, shrub and arboreal strata. The diameter (m), height (m), basal area (m2), volume (m3), beta and alpha diversity and the estimation of carbon sequestration for each species were evaluated. The main results showed that 727 individuals were identified, where the species with the highest ecological importance index were: Roystonea regia, Samanea saman, Gliricidia sepium, and Cedrela odorata and the ones with the best retention of carbon performance are: Roystonea regia, Samanea saman, Theobroma cacao and Spondias mombin.
