Abstract

The natural conditions of the territory, its biodiversity and natural environment, in general, make it vulnerable to the occurrence of severe local storms (TLS in Spanish), which cause damages such as: life loss and material damage; For the above reasons, this work is aimed to update the climatological behavior of the TLS in Guantánamo province, taking into account the frequency of occurrence, characteristic and geographical distribution; from reports of  38 years period; allowing to determine the years, months, start time of this phenomenon, as well as; the map of its spatial distribution according to the prevailing meteorological and physical -geographical conditions. All this is the result of the integrated meteorological surveillance system, which offers timely prediction and warning aimed to reduce the risk and damage caused.
