Abstract

The research was carried out in the Guantánamo and Caimanera municipalities of the Guantánamo province with the objective of diagnosing the perception of risk in the face of the danger of earthquakes by estimating the risk, to facilitate the decision making of the Defense Council in these territories. Five popular councils were included in each municipality. Information gathering instruments such as the survey were applied; The SPSS Data Entry version 4.0 computer package was used to enter the data and for processing, the SPSS 11.5 package for Windows. The main results showed that the municipalities of Guantánamo and Caimanera are located in Group I (High Perception) due to the danger of earthquakes, although the knowledge and preparation of their population to face it still does not reach the maximum levels.
