Abstract

The objective of this article is to carry out a socioeconomic characterization of “Yacabo Arriba” coffee community, which challenges difficult climatic conditions for the development of agricultural activities. Coffee is the main source of employment where men and women work. The research starts from the general to the particular, for the analysis and theoretical treatment of the theme and historical series of facts and data, as well as their contextualization; the main results constituted a starting point for the implementation of sustainable technologies for the cultivation of coffee, as well as to take advantage of very difficult social, topographic, climatic, productive and environmental conditions to promote qualitatively superior social levels; in spite of this, the producers continue motivated towards the active participation of coffee productions which are tradition by generation.
