Methodological proposal for the environmental management of agricultural properties.

Abstract

The objective of the article is to propose a methodology for the environmental management of agricultural properties. The constituent phases are the fixation of the studied area, the diagnosis, the projection, the management and the applicable integral pursuit to systems of agricultural production. There were consulted bibliographies on sustainable agriculture, normative documents about the environment and instruments concerning environmental management to an international, national and provincial scale. There were carried out two sessions with focal groups of discussion constituted by 24 farm owners and usufructuary of lands in the principal municipality of Holguín province. There were corroborated in situ agricultural problems which affect the environment (insufficient handling of floors, plagues, residuals and poor environmental education). The results showed the necessity of the environmental management to level of the farmers' performances with procedure specificities.
