Preventive alternatives against disasters caused by hurricanes in Imías.

Abstract

In Preventive alternatives against disasters caused by hurricanes in Imías it is shortly exposed the necessity to prevent by means of alternatives taken by the inhabitants of communities, mainly the rural and mountainous ones which, due to their constructive architecture deserve orientations that allow the preservation of life, resources and houses. The objective consists on proposing alternatives for the rural architecture as a preventive element that helps to avoid great deteriorations of the housing stock in this and other locations in Imías. The procedures to collect information were the observation, visits to different places, community forums, interviews and study of documents. The results refer to useful alternative proposals supported by images and description. It intends to develop the community preparation to reduce disaster risks in the municipality and it involves both students and teachers from the Universitary Center in cooperation with institutions to strengthen the preparation to residents during the days of military training.
