Abstract

The querequeté is a bird of crepuscular and nightly habits which belongs to the Caprimulgidae family, and it is also a summer migrant in Cuba. This work was carried out from 2014 to 2017 in Guantánamo city approximately located at the geographic coordinates N 0200 081/ 11// / W 0750 12/ 49//; among the outlined objectives was to decode the probable causes of the increase of population groups that forage in the city and deepen on the study of its ecology. The main methods used for the investigation were the direct and indirect observations: sightings, counting, listening to the vocalizations, interviews to people who act as watchers in different city places. The results show an increase on foraging over the city, the best year was 2017 with 613 individuals; only 27.9% of the sampled universe knew this bird
