Abstract

The experiment was carried out at the Mountain Development Center from February to March 2014, the economic feasibility of lettuce seed production in tropical conditions was evaluated. To achieve this, the variety BSS-13 was used, which is distinguished by reaching high yields in the seed, with the objective of evaluating this variety of lettuce in order to obtain fresh seeds in mountain conditions. The data were processed throughout the field work done according to the Real Cost of Agricultural Production Methodology, which includes all expenses in the agricultural production process, from the preparation of the soil up to the finished product. The results obtained show that the total cost per kg of seed obtained was 28.39 pesos, with a component of 0.28 USD/ Kg., which indicates the feasibility of seed production.
