Abstract

The instability of rainfall affects the agricultural production, mainly under drought conditions. The cultivation of malanga in Maisí is remarkably affected by these irregularities. This research was carried out with the objective of evaluating the influence of rains on the malanga production at CCS José A. Sánchez in Sabana. For this purpose, the data of the GT-1349 Lindero gauge (series 1965 - 2014) located at the place were chosen, by means of which it was determined that |the precipitations in the last 10 years were higher than the historical ones, but they have been influenced by extreme events that cause high records in short periods. The relation between seedtime cycle and the crop harvest does not take advantage of the climatic characteristics in order to achieve the best results, so it is recommended to make variations on these periods to adjust the crop needs to the climatic conditions.
