Status of the Raoiella indica Hirst plague in the cultivation of coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) in Baracoa, Guantánamo.

Invasive exotic species have caused severe damages in different regions of the world, so, having information concerning the knowledge producers have about them is very important. The objective of this work is to determine the current state of Raoiella indica Hirst in coconut cultivation in Baracoa; for that reason, in the year 2013 there were applied inquiries through the semi-structured interview method to producers of such crop, from which it has been determined that the masculine sex is more dedicated to this task and that they have preference for indio verde variety. Besides, the most identified plague is Aceria guerreronis, which management is carried out with agrotechnical attentions and there are only applied chemical products by technicians. Finally, it is possible to say that the producers have a few knowledge about R. indica.
