Abstract

It was evaluated the growth-development behavior of 18 crossbred Siboney calves which diet differed (it was experimental), consisting of 300g of flour of Leucaena leucocephala CT-115. Live weight was estimated by the thoracic perimeter (Corzo et al., 2004) and correlations were determined between birth weight (180 and 240 days), daily gain and body measurements in the same period. The data obtained was analyzed in a completely randomized design, using the statistical method of analysis of simple variance, effect between treatments and significant differences (Duncan, 1955). It was concluded that body weight and body size at 180 days, and daily gain from birth to that age are significant indicators for growth-development of the experimental group, and it encourages the implementation of food technologies using the local resources.
