Abstract

This work was carried out in the sawmills of the Toa and Güin Key belonging to the Integral Forest Company  of  Baracoa, from April to November of 2014, with the objective of evaluating the norms of classification of the wood in skittle in the species of coniferous and latifolias due the same ones don't satisfy the client's necessities. It was observed that one makes reference to the classification of the product, but categories of unique quality don't settle down. One doesn't keep in mind the defects of the wood in skittle: table, knots, bends of the shaft, eccentricity of the heart and cone affecting the quality and the yield of the sawed wood; it’s stands out this last one to be more significant and it can predict according to the following model: C = 2,06612 - 0,25037*d1 + 0,254342*d2 - 0,510242*l. Also, the effective norms of classification of the wood in skittle don't satisfy the current demands.
