Abstract

Existing theories regarding cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness analysis to evaluate economically the action of invasive alien species, only serve to extrapolate the methods, procedures and algorithms from the economy to the environment, resulting in significant biases in these analyzes, so it is required to attend general theoretical elements, and develop new theoretical concepts of solution to this problem. This paper proposes approaches to help better approximations to reality at the time of the so-called cost-benefit analysis and cost-effectiveness in terms of invasive alien species, providing two new types of benefit with their respective definitions, proposed a priori and a posteriori analysis, and a new method for cost-effectiveness analysis. It also provides the concept of an alternative synthetic value.
