Abstract

The records are held in Cuba on processes and gravitational phenomena lack of systematic, it can not assess accurately the impacts and consequences so that the main objective of the research is to raise awareness of disaster risk gravitational phenomena in the Guantánamo population of the province. The basic methodology for the study of gravitational movements was compiled by its experts convened by the Environment Agency to Cuba, for studies of Hazard, Vulnerability and Risk sliding with some modifications given by the geological and topographical peculiarities of this territory. It was found that the province shows high susceptibility to the occurrence of gravitational events that can potentially generate significant impacts on people and infrastructure. The high susceptibility is related to the complex geography, rugged terrain with steep slopes and the litoestructural complexity.
