Implementation of a biosecurity management in public health units.

Abstract

The more frequent risks present in the work that involves the use or the presence of biological agents, were analysed and the number of occupationally exposed workers to biohazard was quantified. It was used the regulation like main work method, leaning on the visual inspection and of interviews carried out to workers; it was evaluated the period from 1998 to 2002 to analyse the presence of professional illnesses and in the period 1999 - 2002 the main accidents that occurred. Biosafety structures were created in all the units, settling down this way the policy of biological security in the province; the finance was achieved for remodelling some facilities; deliveries of moderns equipments; enough training to technicians and professionals and the establishment of a biosafety culture in all the centers and at all the existents levels.
